THESE are the newly replaced gates at Epworth’s Thurlow Playing Field.
Work to replace the gates has been praised by Epworth Town councillors ahead of the refurbished pavilion’s official re-opening next month.
The gates stand at the entrance to the field, which was given to the town as a memorial to Epworth soldiers who died in the First World War.
A donation of £3,000 was given to the committee that runs the playing field by the town council, and was used for enhancements to the pavilion.
The gate pillars and the gates themselves have also been replaced, with the design for the gates copied from the originals.
Town council vice chairman John Whittaker told members: “I think the war memorial field is a superb facility run by a small group of hard-working people.”
