Friend scheme for pensioners

A BEFRIENDING service to give elderly residents support has been launched in Doncaster.

Doncaster Council and Sue Ryder launched the scheme to ensure older people who do not have friends and family nearby, have someone to call upon.

Volunteer befrienders have been specially trained to provide visits and phone calls to support over 65s living alone.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the Befriending Service, or volunteering to be a befriender, can call 01302 380077.
