A FLOOD warning has been issued for parts of the River Don after 24 hours of heavy rainfall.

Alerts have been issued for the river between Hexthorpe and Stainthorpe - including Swaith Dike and North Swaith Dike in Bentley.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: “River levels have been rising steadily through the night in response to Monday’s rainfall.

“The river level at Doncaster is currently peaking, however levels further downstream are likely to continue to rise through this morning, before falling later in the day.

“Further rain is expected at times through today, however totals are likely to be significantly lower than yesterday.”
