Epworth takeaway plan

NEWS: News.

NEWS: News.

OPENING an Indian takeaway on Sunday evenings in Epworth could open the floodgates, a councillor has warned.

Epworth Tandoori has applied to North Lincolnshire Council for permission to stay open on Sunday evenings between 5pm and 10pm.

But Epworth Town Council heard of concerns about the plans.

Coun Jean Levesley said: “There’s quite sufficient in Epworth, and it should stay as it is.”And Coun Mrs Roz Whittaker agreed. She said: “It would open the floodgates and lead to others wanting to open. Residents an churchgoers would object.”

Coun Ian Bramble said the council should do all it could to support businesses in the town, urging colleagues to let the public use it or not, as they saw fit.

The council is making no official recommendations to the district planning authority, which makes the decision.
