A COUPLE have walked free from Doncaster Crown Court after becoming embroiled in someone else’s violent dispute.

Glenn Dart, 52, and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Nation Simmonds, each admitted affray at the home of Nicola Stepcyk in Queen Street, Balby.

They went along to support a friend, but became involved in the attack. Ms Stepcyk needed hospital treatment for bruising and cuts to her face and legs.

The woman they accompanied was never prosecuted due to lack of evidence.

Prosecutor Nicholas Neale conceded that Dart, of Palmer Street, Hyde Park, and Simmonds, of Belmont Avenue, Balby, were not at the forefront of the attack.

The court was told Dart had previous convictions for more than 100 offences but Simmonds was of good character.

Dart received 12-months jail suspended, 180 hours unpaid work and a curfew. Simmonds got 100 hours unpaid work.
