Council launches online scheme in bid to keep elderly in their homes

A NEW online service designed to help vulnerable adults live in their own homes longer is being launched in the Isle.

The web-based service, recently launched across North Lincolnshire, is an information hub and on-line supermarket for businesses to promote their services and allow customers to window shop and buy.

Coun Rob Waltham, cabinet member for people at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is a complete change in the way that we deliver services to adults, and one that I think in the coming years, we will see far more of. Not everyone wants to be placed in a care home. Many people want to stay in their own homes and that is where Connect to Support comes in.

“It has lots of information about care and support, links to useful websites and products and services available locally.

“It aims to be the first place that professionals, voluntary organisations and anyone who needs information on care and support locally can go to for information. It will support people to make an informed choice about service providers and the support that they may need.”

Community or voluntary organisations will be able to use Connect to Support to tell people about their organisation. To see the new service, visit www.connecttosupport.org/northlincs
