APPRENTICES are needed for the ambulance service in a region-wide recruitment drive.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust wants Doncaster residents who can provide work in a number of areas such as Patient Transport Service (PTS), which takes eligible non-emergency patients to and from hospital and clinic appointments, and includes road operations, communications and administration.

The Trust supports a wide variety of apprenticeship schemes in frontline operational services, communications and support roles such as IT and finance.

The schemes will be offered along with YH Training Services Ltd to offer qualifications in subjects including business administration and healthcare support services.

Julie Frampton, PTS Transformation Lead at the Trust, said: “This is an ideal first step to working within the ambulance service and I would encourage anyone interested to come along to the event to find out more.

“The scheme is a training opportunity specifically for people wishing to learn new skills and at the end of the course successful apprentices will have achieved an NVQ, a technical certificate and key skills such as communication and numeracy. Successful apprentices are then eligible to apply for jobs within the Trust.

“We are committed to the training and development of our workforce and the apprenticeship scheme is another important step in ensuring a future generation of ambulance staff.”

There will be an open evening held on Wednesday, August 22, between 4pm and 8pm at the Lifewise Centre in Rotherham.
