Celebrations as shop re-opened

AUTISM Plus is in celebratory mood as it re-opened its charity shop on Field Road last Saturday following several weeks of refurbishment.

On top of this good news the organisation, formerly known as Thorne House Services for Autism, has been chosen as the first charity partner of Sainsbury's Thorne for 2010 and looks forward to joint fundraising activities throughout the coming year.

Manager of the Field Road shop, Brenda Holmes said "We are so grateful for the support we have received in the past from the local community, as seen on BBC's Mary Queen of Shops Programme last year, we are appealing to local people to continue their support and help us get the shop up and running with high quality donations of clothes, shoes, handbags, books and bric a brac." Every purchase made in Autism Plus charity shops directly contributes to the care and support of adults and young people with autism and related disabilities, said Brenda.

"We will continue to offer great value for money. Staff and volunteers look forward to welcoming customers old and new," she said.
