A CAR engine burst in to flames after the vehicle crashed in to a wall at Mexborough last night.

The incident occurred on Sedgefield Way and a fire crew from the Dearne station attended. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

There were no injuries as a result of the accidental fire, that took place at about 8pm.

A fire spokesman said the blaze was confined to the engine compartment of the car.
