A CONISBROUGH home has been cordoned off in connection with a man’s murder, police have revealed this morning.

It is believed officers swooped on Monday morning and blocked off a property in Windmill Avenue with police tape.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said colleagues from the Nottinghamshire force were leading the investigation. A spokesman for the Nottinghamshire force has confirmed that the problem was linked to an ongoing murder investigation following the discovery of a man’s body on farmland in Everton, near Bawtry.

A Land Rover vehicle was taken away from the house in scene, neighbours living in Windmill Avenue said. Witnesses said scene of crime officers were also present.

Police are still guarding the house this morning with a single officer sitting in a car outside the property.

One resident said: “Nobody seemed to know what was happening. The neighbours are baffled.”

A child aged just 13 was among five people being quizzed over the Everton murder. The teenager was later released without further action.

The dead man, aged in his 50s, has not yet been identified.
