DONCASTER Council’s net worth has decreased by nearly £153 million in just over a year - largely when schools switched to academies.

The figures were revealed at the authority’s audit meeting on Friday detailing the reductions since March 31, 2011.

The report included that said the position had been “exacerbated” by the significant reduction in the value of council assests with regards to academies - that figure being £37.2m - and included a figure of £63.7m regarding leisure facilities.
