A picture perfect Christmas!
BUDDING artists from one Thorne school were given early Christmas presents after creating their own festive pictures for a fun competition.
Year Two pupils from King Edward Primary were invited to illustrate their favourite seasonal scenes by the town's new Sainsbury store.
So the youngsters created a range of fantastic paintings or drawings depicting santas, snowmen, shepherds and other traditional images associated with Christmas.
Sainsbury's, which moved into its new King Street store earlier this month, pledged to display the winning entry in the shop.
And seven-year-old Megan Connell is the lucky pupil who will have her artwork seen by hundreds of customers.
Judges thought Megan's picture was the pick of many impressive entries and handed her the winning prize of a 15 gift voucher for Sainsbury's.
Runner-up Sasha Wright, six, won a 10 voucher, with the third placed prize of a 5 voucher going to seven-year-old Mollie Hames.
Everyone who entered the competition also received a selection box.
Philippa Shay, a Year Two teacher at the school, said: "We were asked to take part in the art competition by Sainsbury's and we thought it would a fun thing for the kids to do.
"There were a number of prizes at the end as well so the kids really enjoyed it."
