ABOUT 60 feathered friends have been stolen from an aviary at Hexthorpe Park.

Doncaster Council is appealing for information after half the budgies and cockatiels were taken in the early hours of Monday morning.

Director of Adults and Communities Joan Beck said: “The theft of these much-loved creatures is distressing for members of the local community, particularly children who enjoy visiting them.

“I would urge anyone with information to come contact police by calling 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
