Are you 18 to 24-years-old? Claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance? Passionate about the arts?

darts (Doncaster Community Arts) needs you!

darts has three opportunities available to young people wishing to start a career in the arts and cultural sector.

The Doncaster-based community arts organisation is looking for three interns – a Gallery Intern, a Community Intern and a Assistant Producer Intern, to be based in the building full time for six months, working alongside dart’s professional team. The positions pay the national minimum wage and applications are open to local young people currently claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance.

Elaine Hurst, Co-Director of darts commented: “We know how difficult it is for young people to get essential hands-on experience before applying for jobs and we want to provide greater chances to get involved, gain skills and offer fresh ideas.

“darts is currently leading on some innovative programmes, projects and events and we are looking for young people with the enthusiasm to see these succeed. Thanks to funding from the Creative Employment Programme (Arts Council England), local young people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance can apply for one of three paid internship roles, each for a period of six months.”

The Gallery Intern position offers the chance to work closely with darts’ Gallery Manager and play a part in programming workshops, developing marketing materials and connecting with audiences for our regularly changing contemporary exhibitions programme.

The Community Intern position is an opportunity to work on the nationally significant action research programme, Right Up Our Street, which is all about Doncaster people choosing, making, seeing and sharing brilliant cultural ideas. The Community Intern will work with a team of Arts Supporters who are working to develop creative activities across the borough.

The Assistant Producer Intern will also work on the Right Up Our Street programme, supporting the Creative Producer to develop events like the DNweekeND live art event during May in Doncaster town centre. All positions: Six month contracts (30 hours per week) paying minimum wage.

Deadline for applications is Friday April 4 at 5pm.
