ISLE MP Andrew Percy has backed Humberside Crimestoppers on their eight week campaign to stop scrap metal thieves.
The campaign is being conducted along with Humberside Police, other local law enforcement agencies, scrap metal dealers and the business community.
A number of Isle churches - and All Saints Church in Misterton - have been targeted by lead thieves in recent years.
Mr Percy has been heavily involved in combating lead thieves and his campaign for legislation to introduce a new cashless system is now passing through Parliament.
Mr Percy said: “It’s important that there is a strong emphasis on partnerships. We must all pull together and play our part in making our local areas safer.
“I took the campaign against metal theft to Parliament and the Government has now acted by putting through legislation for a cashless system.”
