Investigations underway after five arson attacks.

Arsonists caused havoc over the weekend lighting six blazes in the borough.

Firefighters from Adwick and Doncaster were called to two rubbish fires behind Tesco in High Street, Bentley at 1.10am this morning.

Gas board engineers were called to the scene after concerns the blaze could affect a nearby gas supply.

Just minutes later firefighters from Doncaster were called to Royston Avenue in Bentley to a shed blaze at 2am.

Firefighters managed to contain the fire and stopped it spreading to nearby properties.

Arsonists struck again at 3am in Abbott Street, Hexthorpe where two wheelie bins were set alight this morning.

On Sunday firefighters were called to a skip fire at Ravensworth Road, Hyde Park at 1.30am. No one was injured and firefighters managed to stop the blaze from spreading.

At 11.50pm on Sunday Cooke Street Bentley firefighters were called to an industrial bin fire.

Meanwhile at 7.10pm on Friday firefighters were called to reports of a tree fire at The Paddocks, Auckley

A spokesman said the cause of all five fires had been logged as deliberate.
