Firefighters had to perform a dramatic rescue of a horse after it fell into a muddy ditch.

Crews were called out to the scene on Carr Dyke Road in East Butterwick on Saturday just after 3pm.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said the horse was mud at bottom of a “deep sided dyke” and firefighters assisted a farmer in rescuing the animal.

Firefighters used straps and a forklift truck during the rescue.
