Peer support from ‘rehab grads’ has boosted the recovery of residents attending a substance misuse service.

The graduates are people in recovery from drug or alcohol misuse, some of whom have attended New Beginnings. They run a recovery café and peer support group, offering an insight into ways of coping.

New Beginnings service manager Stuart Green said: “The rehab grads bring thoughts and personal stories of strength and hope around recovery. They also promote residential rehab, another treatment option which is a viable alternative to day programmes at New Beginnings.”
