Hundreds of commuters passing through Doncaster train station took up the offer by Samaritans to ‘Talk to us’ at a special awareness day.

Travellers took contact details provided by Doncaster Samaritans, which is available round the clock for anyone struggling to cope, and spoke to Samaritans about matters which are troubling them.

The event, held yesterday, was arranged with East Coast Trains.

Kim Calvert, of Doncaster Samaritans said: “It’s so important for people to recognise the value of talking, rather than bottling things up. And with the number of people who have taken up our offer to ‘talk to us’ today or receive contact details, it highlights just how much people value having someone to talk to when everything starts getting too much.”

Doncaster Samaritans relies entirely on public donations and volunteers to keep its phone lines and branch open. If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering, or donating contact 07837 391698. Call Samaritans on 08457 90 90 90
