DIABETICS who suffer from ulcers on their feet are urged to take advantage of a specialist footcare service.

The diabetic foot ulcer clinic, which is part of Doncaster’s podiatry service, is based at East Laith Gate House in Doncaster and is open every Tuesday and Friday from 9am to 4pm.

Anyone who suffers from the foot sores as a result of their diabetes can make an appointment themselves by filling in a referral form from their GP’s surgery before being invited in for a patient assessment and to discuss plans for diabetics who have foot complications.

The centre also acts as an emergency access for patients with diabetes who have an acute podiatric problem.

Fiona Rawes, diabetic team lead at Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the service, said: “People who have diabetic ulcers on their feet or diabetic foot related problems might not realise that our team is here to help.

“We urge such people to call for further advice and information about making an appointment.

To find out more about the services on offer, or to make an appointment call 01302 640050, or go directly to a doctor or health care professional.
