HEALTH bosses are urging people who are unwell not to visit friends or relatives in hospital in a bid to stop viruses spreading on wards.
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is asking those with coughs, colds and flu as well as upset stomachs not to visit.
Those with a stomach upset should leave it two days after the symptoms have passed before visiting wards at Doncaster Royal Infirmary or Mexborough Montagu.
Dr Christine Hoy, director of infection prevention and control, said: “Hospitals are full of sick people, many of them frail and elderly, so bringing germs into a hospital is the worst thing you can do.
“We have an active programme of infection prevention but we can’t spot visitors who really shouldn’t be here. So please stay at home if you’re unwell.”
