Action plan to reduce Isle obesity levels

editorial image

A NEW health project could help the Isle’s overweight children and expectant mums to tackle obesity.

The Start4Life scheme is designed to help tackle obesity in North Lincolnshire through physical activity.

The programme is specifically aimed at children and mums-to-be, as obesity levels for these age groups are both above the national average.

Between 2009 and 2011, 58 per cent of expectant mothers in North Lincolnshire were of an unhealthy weight.

Start4Life will deliver advice, support and practical sessions in physical activity and healthy lifestyles, to be presented by midwives, health visitors, family support workers and children’s centres.

More than £28,000 has been made available from NHS North Lincolnshire to set up the programme.
