A CHARITY has handed out a total of nearly £5,000 in grants to boost community groups in the area.
Thorne Moorends Regeneration Partnership, which has been running for around eight years, used money generated from sales that its owned furniture shop Re-furnish based in Bridge Street, had made.
Thorne and District Angling Association came away with the lion’s share of the cash pot with just under £1,100 given which will pay towards rent and repairs to equipment.
Other successful bids included from Thorne playgroup Sunny Smiles Under Fives which will its £560 grant to pay for educational toys and mats. Moorends Recycled Teenagers can use its £560 for rent and insurance and Thorne’s Clouds Community Counselling Service wanted to use the £1,000 for phone costs and rent.
