Football hero Kevin Keegan has been voted Doncaster's best loved celebrity in a poll.

The Armthorpe-born former England and Liverpool legend topped our vote to find the town's favourite stars, beating award-winning actress Sheridan Smith to the top spot.

Louis Tomlinson was named Doncaster's least loved celebrity.

We hand-picked the cream of the town's showbiz crop - and asked you to vote for your best-loved - with the football ace proving to be top of the league among voters, ahead of the Isle starlet who clinched runners-up spot.

Booming Dearne-born Brian Blessed, awarded an OBE in the weekend's Queen Birthday Honours has something else to shout about after being voted into third place.

Motormouth former Top Gear host might not be popular with BBC bosses but grabbed enough votes to secure fourth place, just ahead of Is This The Way To Amarillo crooner Tony Christie who was fifth.

England footballer Danny Rose, currently starring for the Three Lions at Euro 2016, was in sixth, just ahead of Avengers actress Diana Rigg and St Elmo's Fire singer John Parr.

However, it appears the town's musical heritage is not as well loved - One Direction star Louis Tomlinson was voted the town's least loved star, just behind opera singer and so-called Donny Diva Lesley Garrett who proved almost as equally unpopular among voters, finishing ninth.
