Flytipping crackdown

HOMEOWNERS in Thorne and the surrounding district could face fines of upto £5,000 if they allow traders to dispose of their waste illegally.

Doncaster Council has launched a campaign to highlight the message and is reminding residents it is their reponsibility to ensure traders are registered to take rubbish away. If rubbish is dumped homeowners could be preosecuted.

Flyers highlighting the message are being placed on tills at DIY stores across the borough including B&Q, Homebase and Tile Depot.

Coun Cynthia Ransome, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: “Unscrupulous contractors charge to dispose of your rubbish at a registered site, when they are really dumping it over the nearest hedge or side street.
