The Women’s Institute has been very active lately with a visit by 13 members to see Calendar Girls in Sheffield on 13 July.

Mrs Lynn Williamson gave a talk on her visit to Palestine recently and this Thursday at 7pm Wendy Smith will regale the meeting with Wendy’s Wonderful Wednesdays.

Teenagers in the village, who grew up with Harry Potter, have been flocking to the cinema to see the last of the series of films as a way of bidding farewell to their childhood.

As a further contribution to the debate on Jubilee Bridge it is interesting to know that two ambulances tried unsuccessfully to cross the bridge to reach patients last week and were forced to go round via Stainforth.

The quiz winner last Tuesday in the Old Anchor Inn was Mr John Smith whilst the jackpot winners on Thursday were Mr Doug White’s team.

A meeting will be held by Fishlake Drama Group in the village hall on Monday, 1 August at 7pm for 7.30pm to discuss this year’s pantomime.
