Fire crews were called to two car fires overnight in Sheffield.

Firefighters from Central station were called to Gaunt Way, Gleadless at 11.27pm last night.

Crews extinguished the flames and left the scene at 12.05am.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Resecue spokesman said the fire was thought to be deliberate.

“There was no evidence of it being started by an electrical fault. There was no damage to the engine compartment,” he said.

Elsewhere, crews from Elm Lane station were called out to woods just off Woolley Wood Road.

Firefighters were on the scene between 5.30am and left around 6.30am.

The fire was also thought to be started deliberately.
