A Macmillan BIG Coffee Morning takes place at Epworth Imperial Hall, Chapel Street, on Friday September 26 from 10am to 2pm.
It will be bigger, better and longer than ever thanks to the support of the Epworth and Isle of Axholme Rotary Club.
As well as tea, coffee, cakes and a raffle there will be the usual stalls such as tombola, books, cakes, plants, produce and a repeat of last year’s highly successful jigsaw sale.
This year organisers are also adding a scarf and handbag stall.
A spokesman said: “By keeping it going over the lunch period we are inviting people to drop in with their sandwiches, and hope to be able to offer some ‘extras’ such as sausage rolls, cheese scones.”
Money raised will help support services in the local area. The Scunthorpe and Goole Macmillan Cancer Support group has raised over £1million since it started. Not only does this help to fund Macmillan nurses, but also to provide grants for local patients in need of financial assistance with anything from which they will benefit, such as transport costs, shower installations, etc.
Their latest venture has been the new Macmillan information centres at Scunthorpe, Goole and Grimsby hospitals, all manned by local volunteers.
If anyone who’d like to bake a cake, donate items for the stalls or raffle, or maybe help on the day, please contact Carol on 872878.
