A REPORT on proposed improvements to the surface of Epworth’s Turbary Road was heard at this month’s meeting of the town council.
The deterioration of the road surface has been an ongoing issue for many years but the route’s owners - Epworth Town Council - formed a working group to try and find a solution.
Nearby residents have raised safety concerns about the surface and it is hoped that, eventually, the road can be tarmacadamed.
Addressing the town council, Turbary resident Graham Wager explained several meetings took place with North Lincolnshire Council (NLC) in January.
NLC said they would prefer the road not to be tarmacadamed as it would be “disadvantageous” to walkers, Mr Wager added.
Evidence which proves the road was in existence long before nearby footpaths needed to be presented to NLC legal department, Mr Wager stressed.
The town council subsequently agreed to provide NLC with the necessary legal paperwork in an attempt to help speed up the process of resurfacing the road.
