A COUNCILLOR claims fly-tippers have caused a health hazard at a popular dog walking field in Swinton by dumping more than a tonne of rubbish there.

Coun Ken Wyatt has now called in Rotherham Council’s Streetpride Team to investigate the mess at Bow Broom fields off Queen Street.

He said: “It is real heap and won’t be an easy job to clear it. It has a potential effect on local wildlife if any animals get stuck in the rubbish.

“If people drive all the way up here to dump the rubbish why not go to one of the tip sites? It is breaking the law and anyone caught should be punished for it.”

The Times contacted Rotherham Council but did not receive a response at the time of going to press.
