EIGHT men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a family home in Doncaster.

The men, aged between 18 and 43, are all believed to be from the Doncaster area, and have been bailed while the investigation continues.

South Yorkshire Police has also released an image of the black Audi A5, which is believed to have pulled up onto a field behind a house where masked robbers made threats at knifepoint in Spring Lane, Sprotbrough.

The black Audi A5 is thought to have pulled into a field behind the property before two male occupants of the car who were wearing balaclavas entered the garden of the house.

The men are believed to have left the house with a quantity of cash before making off towards Long Lane. The Audi is believed to have left the scene at speed.

A short time later, it is thought that the two suspects were picked up by a white Ford Transit van.

Det Insp Richard Partridge said: “This was a very serious crime that targeted a family residence during daylight hours. The threats of violence in the presence of young children and the possession of weapons is a great cause for concern. We would like to encourage anyone with information about the vehicles to come forward to assist with our investigation.”

Police believe the black Audi A5, which has distinctively small alloy wheels, was stolen from Rotherham on August 25 and may have since been used in the Barnsley and Doncaster areas.

Police would like to urge anyone who may have seen the black Audi A5, in any location, or anyone in it, to call South Yorkshire Police on 101. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Officers would also like to speak with anyone who may have seen the white Ford Transit van in Sprotbrough at around 5.45pm on September 7.
