The Hayfield School has been rated the best state secondary school in Doncaster by a website that monitors the performance of schools over the past year.
Many parents in the borough are currently choosing secondary schools for the children to start in September 2016.
The website - www.schoolsguide.co.uk - has rated all the secondary schools with sixth forms in the area according to key performance data including exam results, Ofsted reports, ‘value added’ score and pupil to teacher ratio.
It only includes schools with sixth forms, which has attracted some criticism from schools such as Hungerhill School, in Edenthorpe, which has no sixth form but has been highly rated by other measures, having recently been selected to become a National Teaching School as a result of its excellent teaching standards and student outcomes.
Parents are also able to write a review of their child’s school and compare against others locally with a maximum five star rating.
Hayfield’s high rating comes as the school has revealed plans to close its sixth form.
The top ten rated state secondary schools on the site in Doncaster are:
1 The Hayfield School
2 The McAuley Catholic High School
3 Ridgewood School
4 Hall Cross Academy
5 Outwood Academy Adwick
6 Rossington All Saints Academy
7 Danum Academy
8 Sir Thomas Wharton Community College
