PUPILS from the foundation stage at Westwoodside Primary School enjoyed a fun festive lesson on the Nativity story.

Epworth’s Methodist Minister Reverend David Leese dropped by the school and talked to children about the roles they performed in their recent Nativity production.

Rev Leese also took in some of his 140-strong collection of Nativity figures which he has assembled from all over the world and received as gifts from friends and family.

The figures are made from a variety of materials, including glass, wood, fabric, paper and even salt.

Foundation stage teacher Helen Spowage said: “Their favourite was a set of rubber ducks brought all the way from America. Mary duck was in blue, the three King ducks had crowns on.

“All the children laughed and said that they had ducks in their baths but not Nativity ducks!

“David likes to keep up to date with his figures and a most recent, unusual addition are rubber bands shaped as a Nativity set.”
