Children, pupils and students at Doncaster Deaf Trust are set to benefit from more than £48,000 thanks to two grants which have been awarded to improve their sports facilities.

Sport England have given a grant of £27,238 and the Sita Trust, which supports community and environmental projects, have provided the remaining £21,400 which will be used to refurbish and resurface the Trust’s two tennis courts.

Bobbie Roberts (pictured), chair of Trustees for Doncaster Deaf Trust, said: “We are thrilled to have received these two grants which will enable us to give a much needed upgrade to our current tennis courts.

“These courts are used for tennis, volleyball, basketball and futsal and as a result of being very well used they are in need of investment.”

The grants will be used to re-surface and re-line the two tennis courts with MUGA 4, all weather, no-slip safety surface.

“Our massive thanks go to both Sport England and the Sita Trust for this money. The work will take place in July and in September our new children, students and pupils will be able to play their first games and matches on the new courts. It will also mean that the community will once again be able to hire the courts for their use,” added Bobbie.
