Doncaster Council has introduced a winter warmer.
A total of 2,000 homes over the last year have received new insulation in a scheme to cut power bills and reduce carbon emissions.
The authority says the works will save around £400 per year on the average gas bill and reduce CO2 output by 36 tonnes per home over a 20 year period.
Councillor Christine Mills, cabinet member for the environment said: “Between June 2012 and July 2013 we started facilitating a scheme to install solid wall insulation in 2000 Doncaster properties – and including 200 boiler replacements.
“The beauty of the project, which created 16 new jobs and safeguarded 43, is that no council money was spent – it was fully funded by money energy companies have to make available for energy efficient measures.”
