They have surpassed their golden, diamond and even platinum wedding anniversary celebrations and there’s no stopping them yet!
For Doncaster couple Arthur and Connie Dalton have just celebrated their incredible 73rd year of wedded bliss.
Arthur, 93, and Connie, 92, had a party at the Thorne Road-based Laurels retirement home where they have lived for 18 years.
The couple, who have three children and 11 grandchildren, were married in 1940 at St Aiden’s Church in Cleethorpes having met five years earlier when Connie admits to being attracted to Arthur’s ginger hair!
And how have they managed to enjoy a long lasting marriage? By sticking together.
“We can’t believe we have made it to 73 years. We think our secret to lasting this long is down to us supporting each other through thick and thin. The advice we’d give is to have no secrets and just talk to each other,” said former shop assistant Connie.
Joanne Harper, Laurels’ location manager, said: “They are a lovely couple who enjoy each other’s company. They still hold each other’s hands.”
