Residents are being urged to have their say on the proposed route for the high speed rail network HS2 that is set to run near their homes.

Barnsley East MP Michael Dugher is encouraging his constituents to make their voices heard.

The Government’s preferred route option is set to touch the edge of ancient Wombwell woodland as it links Birmingham with Leeds and Manchester.

Formal consultation for the route opened recently, and will go on until January 31. A public consultation event takes place at Barnsley Town Hall on November 2, to allow people to question HS2 Ltd representatives and government officials closely.

Views are wanted about the favoured route and its impact in terms of sustainability.
