Horse owners in the Isle have been alerted after a dead horse was found dumped in the roadside at Crowle.
The animal was found at the side of the A18, surrounded by large amounts of fly-tipping.
A North Lincolnshire Council spokeswoman said: “It was reported on Monday, December 3, that a dead horse was found at the weekend on the old A18. Arrangements were then made for the horse to be collected.”
A spokesman for the RSPCA said: “The dead horse was reported to the RSPCA and an inspector did attend and found no suspicious circumstances surrounding the horse’s death following an examination.”
Humberside Police runs the Horsewatch scheme to support horse owners across the district.
The scheme states that although equine crime is very low in the area, every effort to reduce the opportunity for this type of crime should be made.
A spokeswoman for the force said horse owners should report any suspicious activity or vehicles to them immediately.
Owners can register details of their horse and pony by using the online registration form at http://www.humberside.police.uk/horsewatch
