Dawn cooks up a new career

A NEW bridal boutique has opened in Thorne.

Perfect Day, in King Street, is owned by Dawn Ward and Amy Tickle, who decided to go into business together after meeting at a bridal fayre.

Dawn, 55, described the shop as ‘a bit different’ as it aims to bring down the costs of the big day, with a range of off-the-peg dresses available from £100 alongside the made-to-measure and couture ranges.

‘We try to offer a different experience and level of service, with no appointments or time limits on browsing or trying on gowns. Dress shopping is an experience to be enjoyed and there should be no pressure. We want to be able to make a bride’s dreams of a big white wedding come true without the expense’, explained Dawn, of Scawsby.

The former Ridgewood School cook set up the store after spending a year running the service from home, but is delighted to have found a suitable premises in Thorne, the home town of business partner Amy, 37.

‘Thorne is a lovely location with a lot to offer - there is a lot of new investment here at the moment, with many old buildings being renovated’, said Dawn.

The pair sell accessories as well as bridal, bridesmaid and prom gowns, and their eventual ambition is to run wedding fayres.

The pair were suppoerted by Success Doncaster, the business support organisation.
