Cyclist suffers life-threatening injuries after collision

A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash near Thorne last Sunday.

Police said the rider was in collision with a black Honda Varadero motorbike on the A18 Tudworth Road, Hatfield, near the junction with Sandtoft Road.

The 58-year-old man, from Doncaster, was taken to Sheffield's Northern General Hospital with life-threatening head injuries.

The motorcycle rider, a 59-year-old man from Mansfield, received minor back injuries and his 59-year-old female pillion passenger was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary with broken ribs and a suspected broken arm.

Officers believe Sunday's incident, at around 11am, happened as the motorbike was overtaking the bicycle.
