Police have issued a warning to burglars in the Dearne after they locked away a thief who stole thousands of pounds worth of goods.

Steven Law, 32, of Hatherley Road, Swinton, was jailed for 50 weeks after he admitted stealing a motorbike and power tools.

After the case, sergeant Andrea Gilbert said: “Tackling burglaries is one of South Yorkshire’s top priorities and is something we are determined to target. Let this case serve as a warning to other burglars.”

Law pleaded guilty to stealing a motorcycle from an industrial unit in Wombwell Lane, Stairfoot, Barnsley, in August, and the theft of power tools from a shed in Bank End Close, Bolton-on-Dearne, in July.
