A Doncaster traveller has been murdered in Kilburn, Derbyshire.

The body of Barry Smith, 48, was found in the grounds of Kilburn Welfare Social Club at about 8.30am on Sunday.

Two people have been charged in connection with his murder. Vincent Aitken, 43, has been charged with murder and Pamela Aitken, 40, with assisting an offender.

The pair are due to appear before magistrates in Chesterfield today.

Another man and woman remain in police custody and are still being questioned on suspicion of murder.

And a 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The Free Press understands that Mr Smith was a traveller from the Thorne area. It is thought his wife and mother-in-law still live locally.
