A TEENAGER caught with mobile phones from a Doncaster burglary less than a week after being released from custody has been locked up again.
Ricky Andrewatha was sentenced to 12 months in a young offenders’ institution for handling stolen goods, which he admitted when he appeared at Doncaster Crown Court.
Two mobiles were taken in a burglary in St Cecilia’s Road, Belle Vue, in the early hours of October 5 last year while the occupants were asleep.
Security staff at a nearby Asda store became suspicious about the behaviour of three young men in the car park at about 2.45am who were crouching down as police drove past. Staff picked up the phones and called police, who identified Andrewatha from the CCTV footage.
Cheryl Dudley, mitigating, said Andrewatha, of no fixed address, had problems with a lack of accommodation and support in the community.
Sentencing, Recorder David Wilby QC, said Andrewatha had “a quite appalling record’ for dishonesty.”
