Poor parking outside a Mexborough primary school is putting youngsters’ lives at risk, a public meeting heard.
Residents said parents who park in the wrong area outside St John’s C of E Primary School on Sedgefield Way make it difficult for pupils to see oncoming traffic when crossing.
A concerned resident, who died not want to be named, told the Mexborough Partners And Communities Together meeting: “If it is a £60 fine for illegal parking, then officers would have got about £600 outside the school the other day. It is putting the kids at risk.”
PC Phil Black said officers would patrol the area over the coming weeks and speak to any motorists parking illegally.
He said: “We can send Police Community Support Officers and parking enforcement to take another look at the issue.”
No staff at the school were available for comment.
