Doncaster police have warned lorry drivers to be on the look-out for diesel thieves following a spate of fuel thefts.

Officers have put up warning posters following a number of thefts which have taken place from HGVs parked up overnight off the A1, close to the border with West Yorkshire.

The latest incident happened at Robin Hood’s Well, Skelbrooke, between 5.15pm on Monday and 2.35am on Tuesday, when the driver checked his Mercedes lorry and found the fuel cap off. One of the tanks, containing £350 worth of fuel, had been emptied.
