An 11-year-old girl has been hospitalised after being reportedly bitten by a dog in Balby.

It is reported that an 11-year-old girl was out with friends near to Waverley Avenue, Balby, when a dog approached.

The dog, described as being brown and white and knee height, allegedly bit the girl on her leg, causing injuries that later required hospital treatment.

The breed of dog is not known at this time.

The owner of the dog is described as being a white man around 5ft 10ins tall, possibly in his 50s.

He reportedly had white/grey hair and was unshaven.

It is believed that the owner of the dog was chasing the animal after the incident, which is believed to have occurred at around 7.30pm on October 4.
