A 28-year-old Doncaster man who died in a motorway crash has been named.

David Storer, of Balby, died in the collision on the A1(M) between junctions 35 and 36 at 1.40am on Sunday.

A police spokesman said the family did not wish to issue a statement or photograph at this time.

A 26-year-old motorist has been arrested and was being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “A 28-year-old man from Doncaster died in a fatal collision on the A1(M). The car he is believed to have been a passenger in was involved in a collision.

“The silver Ford Mondeo travelling northbound left the carriageway, went down an embankment and came to rest colliding with a tree.”

She added: “The driver was reported to have left the scene. Police later arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He did not appear to have any serious injuries.”
