The death of a 33-year-old man found in a Doncaster lake is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.

An inquest is now set to open into the death of Craig Rutherford after his body was found in a lake.

Emergency services were called at around 8.20pm on Wednesday 22 July to reports a man’s body had been found in the water in to Chappell Drive.

While the man has not yet been formally identified, officers are satisfied that the body is that of 33-year-old local man Craig Rutherford

Mr Rutherford’s family have been notified and are being supported by officers.

Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding Mr Rutherford’s death and officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen him in the last few days.

Following the discovery of Mr Rutherford a South Yorkshire Police spokesman said a file is being prepared for the coroner.

A date for the inquest opening has not yet been finalised.
