Clampdown on town centre begging

Police are continuing to carry out patrols around Doncaster Town Centre in a bid to clampdown on begging.

Residents raised concerns about the number of people asking shoppers for money at a Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meeting.

Following the meeting weekly patrols have been taking place.

Police officers have moved a number of beggars on in areas including Baxtergate and St Sepulchre Gate.

It was agreed at the last PACT meeting that the issue would remain one of the top priorities for the coming months.

Residents are asked to contact police on 101 to report any problems.
