BREAKING NEWS: Woman dragged along road in Mexborough street attack

A woman leaning into a car was dragged along a road when she was grabbed by a motorist who then drove off.

Police have now launched an investigation to find the man responsible for what officers described as a targeted attack.

The 32-year-old victim was waiting at traffic lights in Wath Road, Mexborough, when a small black car pulled up.

A man then pulled her towards the window before setting off while still cluthcing his victim. He let her go and she fell into the road.

The woman suffered bruising and grazing to her body.

PC Julie Fretwell said: “This was a busy junction on a Saturday afternoon, so I would have thought someone in the area at the time would have seen something.

“Fortunately the woman was not seriously injured, but this incident could have been much worse.

“This incident doesn’t appear to be a random act.”

The incident happened at about 3.15pm on Saturday.

The woman was as white, about 5ft 7ins tall with shoulder length brown hair. She was wearing black jeans and a pink and white coat, with a grey fleece underneath and white trainers.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the incident or who may have information about it to call 101 quoting incident number 786 of April 13.
